From install to insights in minutes. Here's the full lifecycle of a ByeWhy churn survey.

Install the app

Head to the Stripe App Marketplace and install ByeWhy with a single click. No separate account or technical setup required — the app connects directly to your Stripe account.

Customize your survey questions

ByeWhy comes with a set of thoughtfully crafted core questions — primary reason for cancelling, missing features, likelihood to return, and more. Enable or disable individual questions, or add your own custom questions to tailor the feedback to your business.

Configure your delivery settings

Fine-tune when surveys are sent after a cancellation, set up optional reminder emails, customize the sender name, subject line, and reply-to address. You can even attach a Stripe promotion code to incentivize responses.

Surveys are sent automatically

When a customer cancels a subscription in Stripe, ByeWhy automatically sends them a feedback survey after your configured delay. No manual intervention needed — it runs in the background, 24/7.

Optional reminder email

If the subscriber hasn't responded after a configurable number of days, ByeWhy sends a gentle reminder email. This significantly boosts response rates without being intrusive. You can enable or disable reminders at any time.

Survey link expires after 30 days

Each survey link has a built-in 30-day expiry. After that, the link is deactivated and the survey is marked as expired. This keeps your data timely and relevant, and prevents stale responses months after cancellation.

View results on the subscription page

Survey responses appear directly in your Stripe Dashboard on the subscription detail page. See exactly why that customer left, whether they'd consider returning, and what features they were missing — all without leaving Stripe.

Track stats on the subscription list

The ByeWhy panel on the subscription list page shows aggregate stats: total surveys sent, responses received, response rate, and more. Spot churn trends at a glance and measure the impact of product changes over time.

Simple monthly billing

You're billed each month based on the number of completed surveys. The first 3 completed surveys each month are free, then it's $1 per completed survey up to a $100/month cap. Sent-but-unanswered surveys don't count. See our pricing for full details.
