ByeWhy ("we," "our," or "us") operates the ByeWhy churn survey service for Stripe merchants. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share information when you use our website, services, and related products (the "Service").
1. Information We Collect

- Merchant account data. When you install ByeWhy in your Stripe account, we receive data from Stripe such as your account ID, business name, and information needed to send surveys and attribute responses to your account.
- Subscription and customer data (via Stripe). We receive limited data about cancelled subscriptions and associated customer email addresses so we can send feedback surveys on your behalf.
- Survey responses. When your customers complete a churn survey, we collect and store their responses and associate them with your merchant account.
- Bounce and delivery data. We track whether survey emails are delivered or bounce, and store bounced email addresses to help you maintain list hygiene.
- Usage and technical data. We collect logs, IP addresses, and similar technical data necessary to operate, secure, and improve the Service.
- reCAPTCHA. Our survey forms use reCAPTCHA to reduce abuse. Use of reCAPTCHA is subject to Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
- Send churn surveys to your customers at your request.
- Store and surface survey responses and analytics in your Stripe dashboard.
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and technical issues.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
- Improve the Service and develop new features.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third parties, each with their own privacy practices:

- Google reCAPTCHA. Bot protection on survey forms. See Google Privacy Policy.
- Hosting providers. To run our servers and store data.
By using the Service, you consent to the transfer of your data to these providers as necessary to provide the Service.
4. Data Sharing
We share information only as follows:
- With the merchant whose Stripe account is connected (i.e., survey responses and recipient data belong to that merchant).
- With service providers who assist in operating the Service, under contractual obligations consistent with this policy.
- If required by law, court order, or government request.
- In connection with a merger, sale, or transfer of assets (with notice to you).
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Data Retention
We retain:
- Merchant and survey data for as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service.
- Survey responses in accordance with your account settings and our legitimate business needs.
- Bounce records and logs for operational and compliance purposes.
- Certain data as required by applicable law.
Upon account deletion, we will delete or anonymize your data in accordance with our retention and deletion procedures, subject to legal retention requirements.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest, access controls, and secure infrastructure. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we strive to protect your information but cannot guarantee absolute security.
